Steady Growth & New Routes
Murcia’s Regional International Airport (also known as Corvera Airport) continues to show steady growth in 2025: between January and June, over 404,000 passengers passed through the airport, a 1.7% increase compared to last year, with 3,330 flights, a 4.9% increase. The majority of passengers were international travelers, rising by 3.7% (murciatoday.com).
New Flight Routes and Shuttle Service
From July, the Murcia-Barcelona route operated by Volotea has increased its capacity by 17%, offering around 40,000 seats. The airline has also confirmed the route will continue into the winter season with three flights per week (travelandtourworld.com).
In addition, a new airport shuttle service launched on May 22, 2025, connecting Corvera Airport to key tourist hubs such as Torrevieja, La Manga, and Cabo de Palos, making the region even more accessible (murciatoday.com).
Expansion Potential for the Future
Although passenger numbers remain below the airport’s full potential since its opening in 2019, the infrastructure already allows for 4 to 5 million passengers annually, with the current terminal handling around 1 million passengers in 2024 (en.wikipedia.org, corveraairporttravel.com).
What Does This Mean for Baja Verde & Altaona Resort?
- Improved accessibility: With new flight routes and frequent shuttle services, Costa Cálida is becoming even easier to reach.
- Increased tourism and investment potential: Better connections mean more long-term renters and buyers.
- Future-ready infrastructure: Despite steady passenger growth, the airport is well-equipped for future expansion.
At Baja Verde S.L., we closely follow these developments to ensure that our guests and investors always benefit from easy, sustainable, and worry-free travel.
